Freedom Fades in California September 5, 2000 Freedom is a fragile thing. A candlelight in a windstorm, if you will, requiring constant vigilance to preserve. It is never safe, as the old saying goes, as long as the Legislature (or Congress) is in session.

Sometimes, you can tell allot about how good an argument is by the response that comes from the people who were criticized. Judging from the response from Nick Blom, and Tom Van Groningen, Mike Serpa's criticism of the Modesto Irrigation District must certainly have a great deal of merit.

Modesto lost a great man a couple of days ago. Charley Duncan spearheaded two drives tp prevent the City of Modesto from injecting the toxic byproduct of uranium mining into our drinking water.
