COUNCIL FRAUD

Good afternoon,

The story in today’s BEE reveals a remarkable truth.  I do not think that was the goal of the story, but if you would please pay attention to the map on the back page of the front section (page A 14), you can see what the truth REALLY is.

To summarize, the BEE tells us that Modestan’s have a flooding problem when it rains.  Please remember, when the Mayor/Council/bureaucrats talk about the storm sewer problem, they always tell us the problem exists because the system is SOOOOO OLD!

Well, take a look at the map!

Where are the areas that are emphasized as experiencing “PERSISTENT FLOODING DURING STORMS BECAUSE OF BACKLOGGED DRAINS”?  They are predominantly in the newer, north part of our city.  The vast amount of area NORTH of Standiford/Sylvan is almost brand new development.  The entire area north of Briggsmore between Coffee and Oaldale is virtually brand new.  The area east of Lakewood and south of Briggsmore is new.   Why would these new areas experience “persistent flooding”?????

Could it be because our city is so badly managed that the most recently created infrastructure is the worst infrastructure in our city?  Could it be that new development was so badly planned and executed that the infrastructure is just plain lousy?

To be fair, there are some older, small and separated areas, probably county islands, that have problems.  But the vast majority of problems exist where the sewers are NOT 100 years old, are NOT made of redwood, and are NOT the result of decades of neglect.

Even if these problems are directly related to incompetent city managers and council people, YOU are going to pay for it.  Brad Hawn promises an “innovative” way to fix things.  I sincerely doubt that.  Hawn’s solution will be to charge you $40 dollars for what you are currently spending $4 dollars.

We need to tell these “leaders” and bureaucrats what we think of them when it comes to voting to pay them more money to fail, again.

Let me know what you think.   Thanks, Dave

1.     Letter from Supervisor Jim DeMartini to the Alliance

2.      Response from the Alliance signed by Bassitt and Sweetman

3.      An evaluation list of donors to “Strengthen Stanislaus” and the Alliance (/the list is not complete and some have quit including the Bee.)

Does the Alliance lobby government for its donor members?

Read the Alliance letter.  How does it explain line 12 on the evaluation of contributors list?

Bee has yet to write an article that prints in the paper edition. See attached pdf document.  Does it  REFUTE the Alliance's position of NEVER receiving Money from the Kamilos Machine?

This
info below was posted to the BEE HIVE BLOG.....still waiting for follow-up.

Stanislaus County Supervisor
Jim DeMartini <http://stancounty.com/board/bosbios/district5.shtm> earlier this month filed an extensive California Public Records Act request asking for information on any financial ties between West Side developer Gerry Kamilos <http://www.modbee.com/2096/story/184118.html> and a public/private partnership that promotes economic development.

To be exact, DeMartini asked the Stanislaus Economic Development & Workforce Alliance
<http://www.stanalliance.com/> for:

“All records, including spreadsheets, lists, summaries showing any monies or compensation of any type, including, but not limited to gifts, donations, grants, in-kind contributions, advertising, and/or sponsorships, paid by either PCCP Westpark, LLC, Westpark Holdings, LLC, Gerry Kamilos or any entity owned, operated or controlled in whatever part by Gerry Kamilos or Karen L. Kamilos, or Gerry N. Kamilos and/or Karen L. Kamilos Family Trust to:

  1. Stanislaus Economic Development & Workforce Alliance or Alliance
     WorkNet.
  2. William Bassitt.
  3. Doug Sweetland.
  4. Strengthening Stanislaus or Alliance WorkNet funds or budget accounts.
  5. Any other fund or budget account connected with or part of the
Stanislaus Economic Development & Workforce Alliance or Alliance
     WorkNet.
  6. Any account or fund labeled evaluation list which sets forth
amounts by divisions, such as advanced, leadership or pacesetter.”

Bassitt, the Alliance’s chief executive, replied that he and Sweetland “have never received any money, gift, or consideration of any kind from the above-mentioned entities.” He copied his reply to the rest of the
Board of Supervisors. It’s one of those things that just wound up at The Bee.

DeMartini and the Alliance take opposite stances on Kamilos’ plans to develop the former Crows Landing air base
<http://www.modbee.com/local/story/189858.html>. DeMartini opposes it; the Alliance supports it for economic development.

The Alliance’s Sweetland in November told DeMartini he was “abusing his position
<http://www.modbee.com/local/story/118743.html>” by trying to sink Kamilos’ plan.

The Sabatino Report

Time for review of Measure M

The passing of Measures M and N, created by the recent Charter Review Committee, requires the City to create a five-member Citizen's Salary Setting Commission and a nine-member Citizen's Districting Commission.

Measure M suggests the Commission be composed of one retired Stanislaus County judge, one member of a local taxpayer's association with tax-exempt status, one member of a local nonpartisan political organization with tax-exempt status, one former member of a Civil Grand Jury who has served in that role within the previous five years and one additional member who has demonstrated civic involvement and a capacity to serve in an honest, independent, and impartial fashion.

There is a difference between REQUIRE and SUGGEST.

Measure M advertised the endorsement of  the Democratic and Republican Central Committees,  Someone violated the by-laws of these committees because the “endorsements” came without the voting required by those by-laws.

Measure M was endorsed by the Stanislaus County Taxpayers Association, which does not exist.

Measure M was financed to the tune of $100,000 by the Mayor, City Councilmember Brad Hawn, George Petrulakis, and etc.

Measure M ballot measure was written by George Petrulakis, a land-use lawyer, political consultant, and power peddler.

Measure M was endorsed by the Stanislaus Taxpayer Association which is the only organization available to fit the requirement as suggested by the ballot measure.  Apparently they already have a seat at the table.

There is much more, but you will not see it in the corporate newspaper, or hear it on corporate radio.
