This morning's Bee had a great article about our new DA Birgit Fladager, and how she is trying to help jurors who served on high profile cases. It made me think about how frustrating the Carmen Sabatino trial was. Carmen was not found guilty on any of the ten charges that he was charged with. Patrick McGrath, the alleged source of numerous lies about Carmen Sabatino is now possibly being disbarred for forgery, moral terptitude, embezzlement of $1.5 Million etc. These are crimes that the DA's office has been aware of for a long time now, and has failed to prosecute. I had a good long discussion about this subject with one of the lawyers associated with the Sabatino trial. I was told that most likely the DA's office made a deal with Patrick McGrath that they would not prosecute him if he testified against Carmen Sabatino. I must remind Birgit Fladager that Mr. McGrath invoked his Fifth Amendment rights against self incrimination on the eve of the Sabatino trial. It seems to me that this should nullify any agreement that allegedly was made to Patrick McGrath to not prosecute him for his crimes. Patrick McGrath is probably one of the main reasons why the DA's office was made to look like a horses ass over the bogus Sabatino trial. Prosecuting Carmen for spaghetti and meat balls when you let McGrath skate after allegedly forging checks, and allegedly embezzling $1.5 Million is a travesty of justice. We will be filing a complaint with the Grand Jury over this situation Ms Fladager. It is not too late for you to do the right thing, and make Patrick McGrath pay for the crimes he allegedly committed.                        Administrator

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
written by Tux on December 8, 2006

Stevie, a person is presumed to be innocent of a crime unless proven to be guilty by a court of law. That is the way our system is supposed to work.

...Carmen was NOT found "not guilty." To be found not guilty is to be acquitted, and Carmen was not acquitted -- his trial ended with a hung jury, and a mistrial was declared. No verdict.
