Today’s column hits the City Council, er, I mean the nail, right on the head.  This bunch of 7 scoundrels has succeeded in looting the public purse pursuing reprehensible goals.  What person in their right mind would have authorized the expenditure of over $1 Million dollars in legal fees, when multiple members of City staff verified the validity of the lawsuit in their dispositions?  In fact, this Council either authorized or approved of staff continuing to violate City directives prohibiting discrimination, harassment, and promotion and pay favoritism.  (I assert that because those violations continue to this day!)

                   It amazes me that the Council seems to think that the People’s purse is theirs for the picking.  This reckless squandering of our tax funds must be punished at the ballot box. 

                   Even more amazing is the ruthless “defense of the Charter” by feeding their greedy outside attorneys in fighting their own constituents, who happen to be Latino, over the right to be represented by someone who is a neighbor.  The truth is, they are trying to protect their own pathetic powerless $800 a month “job”, and enjoy the free lunch that comes with elected office.  Thus, they approve of victimizing their own employees and their own constituents as well.  The huge rub is that they take no responsibility for anything, even their own vote!  And now, they plan to loot and pillage the water, sewer and other “surplus” funds to pay for their heinous behavior. 

                   It is a fact that the Citizen, who pays for everything, has no representation on this Council!  That is the salient lesson we have received from their shenanigans.  And this Council seems to have absolutely no end to their disregard for propriety or moral behavior.  From the three-minute limitation on free speech, to illegal employment practices, to self-serving protectionism, they diabolically oppose the American ethic of honest and responsible government of the People, by the People and for the People. 

                   Keep up the good work, Jeff.  Your friends and neighbors need it.  Dave
