THE SABATINO REPORT

Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:00 on KMPH 840 we will discuss how a previous council changed the City Charter to accommodate their agenda in having the right people elected.  They met at a restaurant and voted to put what they wanted on the ballot.  Tune in and tell us what you know,

To the Modesto City Council and Modesto Taxpayers

The attached letter was sent to the Modesto City Council on January 31, 2007.

As of today, it has been ignored.

The council has refused to vote on allowing the people of Modesto to vote on district elections as I have proposed.

The matter was referred to the Charter Review Committee to avoid a vote.

The Modesto City Council is not being asked to support district elections.  The request is to merely put the matter on the ballot and let the people vote.

Councilmember Brad Hahn could be the first to say yes or no to the district election system we propose.

We will start the day count on what he wants to do on next Wednesday

January 31, 2007 HAND DELIVERED
Modesto City Council

Councilmembers: Robert Dunbar, Brad Hawn, Janice Keating, Garrad Marsh,
William O'Bryant, Kristin Olson

Subject: Remarks by Vice-Mayor Brad Hawn
Dear Modesto City Council,
I was told by Hispanic leadership that they were advised by Vice-Mayor Brad Hawn
to not "associate with Sabatino". In the context of political attacks against me it is
only significant as to the chilling of other citizens civil rights.
At the district elections forum sponsored by the EI Concilio, I asked Mr. Hawn if
the remark attributed to him was true.
He said that it was true and asked if I would accept his apology. An apology does
nothing to advance the truth. An investigation and explanation is the proper
process.
It appears that violating citizens civil rights is acceptable behavior and is a long
standing trademark of this cities political boss.
Attacks on me will not deter Modestan's for Fair District Elections from putting
district elections on the ballot.
Threats to the Hispanic Community or for that matter; any citizen, will only result
in your defeat and make the City accountable for Civil Rights violations.
Modestan's know that you oppose district elections and that you created a Charter
Review Committee to slow it down or insure it does not happen.
Sincerely yours,
Carmen Sabatino, Modestan's for Fair District Elections
