Somehow all of us knew Modesto would appeal the District Election issue all the way to the US Supreme Court. What a waste of our hard earned tax dollars. Our Mayor, and City Council Members are willing to spend however much of your tax dollars they want in order to protect their control of Modesto. Make no mistake about it, if true district elections were in place in Modesto, many of these people would not be in power. So far, Modesto has spent around $750,000.00 fighting California State law, and have lost at the State Appeals Court level, and then lost at the California State Supreme Court level. The Attorneys that are representing the plaintiffs in the case have sent Modesto a bill for $2,000,000.00 for their fees, and yet Modesto wants to spend more money to fight on. This reminds me of a gambler who is being ruined by his unwillingness to walk away from the table. It is highly improbable that the US Supreme Court will even hear Modesto's case. Meanwhile, the plaintiff's attorney fees keep on growing, and Modesto's attorney fees keep on growing, and Modesto will most probably have to pick up the entire tab. I urge the public to contact our elected officials, and urge an end to this waste of public money. Support the District Election Proposal by the Modestans for Fair District Elections. Help free Modesto from the developers control. Tux
