Pro growth developers want to make sure they can make their multi millions on development in Salida, and are looking for the fast track for their proposal so that it can get on the November 2007 ballot. This is the same November 2007 ballot that the Supervisors refused to put Denny Jackman's Stamp Out Sprawl initiative on, because they farted around until they said it was too late to get it on the ballot. The Modesto Bee Editorial Staff is calling for the Supervisors to take the same slow road for the developers proposal that they took for Stamp Out Sprawl initiative. The Bee is afraid that giving the developers proposal preferential treatment would prove what we have known for many years: That the Board of Supervisors and Modesto City Council are controlled by the developers. I really don't think they care if everybody knows they are puppets to the developers. The people who really care about such things have known this fact for a long long time, and the rest of the people are just not interested in such things, and will vote for whoever has the big flashy flyers in the mail, and are recommended by the Bee, and Chamber of Commerce. It is interesting that the developers want to name their initiative the Stanislaus Roadway Improvement, Economic Development and Salida Area Farmland Protection and Planning Initiative. What a farce. They don't see farmland when they look at Salida. They see asphalt, houses, and houses, and houses that will make them even richer than they already are. I don't think the Supervisors will do the right thing with this at all. Look for that preferential treatment for the developers. The developers have made a huge monitary investment with each and every Supervisor, and it is time for a return on their investment. Tux
