The poor overworked, underpaid, intimidated Modesto Police Department is afraid of too many young adults having a good time downtown. They have come up with a plan to limit dancing permits downtown, thus spreading a black cloud over the vibrant, upbeat atmosphere that has revived Modesto's night scene. I think this could be an effort to reserve downtown for the elite stuff shirt aristocratic crowd that is about to occupy the Gallo Performing Arts Center. Just imagine the horror of the aristocrats having to co-mingle with young adults who prefer Rock and Roll. And Heaven forbid that our Modesto Police could possibly have to maintain peace and tranquility between these two radically different classes of people. So the young people will have to make way for the stuff shirts, who's birthright demands control of the common people. This is the way it has always been in Modesto, and shall always be.          Tux
