September 10, 2007 The Sabatino Report A caller to the Morning Mayor Show revealed serious problems with City of Modesto Airport security. The City of Modesto has been without an airport manager for at least six months. This has led to a very serious breach of airport security and lack of communication to aircraft owners even though the communication was by registered mail. Documents submitted by aircraft owners were either misplaced or overlooked. This resulted in aircraft owners being locked out of their hangers by the city. The following is an excerpt from the from a letter by the acting airport manager to a hanger tenant. “There is no current insurance certificate on file with us for automobiles you drive onto the airport. If you do not drive a vehicle onto the airport, please indicate such to us.” “Also, as you see, we have two records in our database with the same aircraft listed in each of two hangers. We know you own (hanger) P-8 and are renting F-6. Where is the aircraft actually housed? And who is in the other hanger?” Wouldn’t we feel safer if the city knew who was on the airport and in what hanger the airplanes were stored?
