After reading about Stanislaus County's plans to move the Urgent Care Clinic from Scenic General to Paradise Road, I remembered a comment from one of my friends about the County being interested in selling the entire property to a certain Real Estate person. At the time, I thought that was probably not true. It now seems as though this could actually be in the early stages of becoming a reality. This is prime real estate to say the least. I guess it depends on how desperate the County is to convert prime assets into cash now. They converted the Tobacco Tax money into a cash now situation, and lost more than $15 million in the process. Granted, they got $15 million up front instead of getting around $1.5 million annually over 20 years earmarked for health care costs of the poor. The County subsequently gave $15 million to the Gallo Arts Center. What a coincidence. This property is apparently burning a hole in their pocket. I wonder what they will spend this money on after selling the property? I would hope that they could re-open some of the health care clinics that were closed for lack of funds. This would be a far better use of the money than gifting more money for the aristocrats at play. Carnac
