Every time we look around, our cost of living is going up. Adjustable mortgages are going up and people are losing their homes. Our City of Modesto bills are continuing to go up, the cost of our food is going up, gasoline prices are at an all time high. This goes on and on forever.                                    

LET'S DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND

Now our leaders want to try to push another price increase down our throats by raising our sales tax by another half a cent to pay for road improvements that we are already paying taxes for. I for one have had it with any more tax increases. Our elected officials need to realize that the citizens of Stanislaus County have been hit harder than just about any other region in the United States. Our economy is projected to be the last one to recover from the present crisis. 

Look at the people behind this tax increase, and you will see people who represent the building industry, Chamber of Commerce, and other interests that are partially responsible for the present sub prime mortgage crisis. Their greed for dollars knows no bounds. JUST SAY NO TO ANY MORE TAXES. Make our elected officials work with the budget that they have, just as we have to deal with our own budgets. They may say that it is just a little tax, but the reality is we are being killed by expenses a little bit at a time. It is just like putting a lobster in a pot of cool water, and turning the burner on. The water in the pot becomes hot gradually, and the lobster does not realize it is going to die until he is cooked. Tux
