The Sabatino Report

Good Morning

Wasden takes blame for lost state grant  Who is really to blame?

Nine Stanislaus County cities refused to take fiduciary responsibility for an anti-gang grant and it was denied by the state.  Wasden said that had he known about the fiduciary requirement he would have, “Put down Modesto and I’ll arm wrestle my finance department.”

Maybe the chief is taking on too much. He proposes legislation, handles grants, has his own finance department, and has to tell us that he doesn’t have the resources to respond to burglaries.  It used to be that, the police chief reported to a deputy city manager who would review and handle some of the administration for the police department.  The fire chief also reported to the manager.  They have fired most of those managers.

If the chief reports to anyone, he would report to interim City Manager Jim Niskanen, from parks and recreation, who would report to the City Council.  The Council is working on dog laws and drinking in the park.  Who is going to be held accountable?

Of course, this all happened before the passage of Measure M, the Accountability Act of 2008 passed by GeorgeWashington” Petrulakis, the father of our city. He wrote our new constitution. Now that we will potentially be paying our city council $250,000 a year, a “slip-up” on future grants is probably unlikely.

While Councilmember Kristen Olsen is passing such laughable house cleaning legislation as, shopping carts and dumpster diving, the city lost at least a $500,000 dollar anti-gang grant from the state.

State agencies are auditing all candidates for public office in 2006 election.

The Franchise Tax Board and the Fair Political Practices Commission are conducting audits of all 2006 candidates for office in Stanislaus County.  Can you name the candidates that ran for office in 2006?

On the Morning Mayor Show.  We bring you local news you havent’t heard or read about before!

You and your friends that listen to the show already know about the political attacks on Supervisor DeMartini for his position on the West Park plan for the Crows Landing Naval Air Station.

DeMartini has been on the Morning Mayor Show five times.  His opponent, Newman Mayor John Fantazia, wants to wait until the Board of Supervisors votes on West Park before he makes an appearance.
