March 17, 2008 The Sabatino Report Good Morning Newspaper Editor Mark Vasche, is at it again Sunday’s editorial, “Democracy depends on open government” is representative of the continuous claims by Vasche that he is the watchdog of the community. He boasts about using the Public Records Act to gain access to calendars for elected officials. So what? What important information did those calendars reveal? At the trial of former Mayor Carmen Sabatino, Vasche used the Shield Law so that he could refuse to testify. Then he bragged in a California Newspaper Publishers Bulletin how he used the law to protect freedom of the press. He also failed to tell the truth in the article. Vasche looks at elected officials calendars and ignores corruption and news that occurs under his nose. We would be better served by Vasche publishing what he already knows before looking for stories in hopes of convincing us that he is protecting society. Mr. Vasche has a microphone available to him on the Morning Mayor Show on KMPH 840 AM daily at 10. Today’s newspaper editorial: “Board needs time to set up its West Park shot” Gerry Kamilos and the West Park project have run out of time. The newspapers argument that he be given more time to lay his hands on $50 million of tax payer money is irresponsible. Patterson residents know that the “county’s preferred option” is not good for the taxpayers of the entire county. The Hillwood project was presented as the plan requested by the county. The Hillwood plan was the preferred option but they apparently did not spread enough political money. The newspaper could be a watchdog by publishing a two column graph. One column would tell us how much money Kamilos contributed and the other the contributions of Hillwood. The newspaper has given the Supervisors cover so that they can grant the delay and ignore the terms of their contract with Kamilos. George Petrulakis is not a lobbyist Land-use attorney George Petrulakis primary function is to elect his candidates to office so that he does not have to lobby. More later.
