IT SEEMS LIKE A COMEDY TO ME

It seems like a comedy to me how our elected, and non elected leaders are in denial about raising our sales tax twice during a recession. It simply not going to happen. Two thirds of our voters will not support making life more expensive during these hard times. The voters will not support raising taxes to support our Firemen and Policemen. These two entities just received large raises from the City Council, while the city is running an eight million dollar deficit budget. The City Council is poised to get a $250,000.00 raise at the same time that they want us to increase the sales tax by one half percent. All this is happening while our County and Shadow Government Alliance are planning to ask the voters for a half percent sales tax increase to fix our roads. The cities of Stanislaus County are fighting over the money like they have it in the bag already. Our leaders will get a real big dose of reality when they see what is going to happen with the voters. I suggest that our leaders focus their efforts to living with a strictly enforced budget that includes all departments. The two proposed sales tax increases are going to work against each other, and neither proposal has a chance of passing with the required super majority. Tux
