If anyone had any doubt that the proposed sales tax increase for roads is doomed, just look at what happened in Oakdale. For the second time, Oakdale residents rejected an increase in their property taxes to support Oak Valley Hospital. The State of California will probably raise our sales tax by one percent to help close the budget shortfall. We will not be allowed to vote on this, or it would fail as well. In my opinion, the Road Tax proposal is dead, and decomposing. With our present economy, which the Republican Party thinks is in great shape, the voters will not be voting to support any additional taxes. Our cost of living is already out of control, and the Alliance is going to strike out once more. Administrator
