THE ONLY GOOD MID DIRECTOR I now surely know why the Modesto Irrigation District has been so determined to keep key information away from Director Mike Serpa. I am sure that the other directors are well aware of how poorly they have managed the publicly owned utility district. They are well aware of how they have lost tens of millions of dollars on providing electric power to the community of Mountain House. Mountain House is a development run by our famous Jeri Camillus who wants to develop the former Crows Landing Naval Air Station. Jeri’s Mountain House development is falling flat on it’s face, and the MID customers are going to foot the bill for this bad investment. The MID should have required Jerry Camillus to pay for the cost of running all those electrical lines, but they decided to make the MID customers pay for it. Now we are facing three planned rate increases that will raise our electrical rates 20 percent. This is being done at a time where the price of natural gas is at a historically low price, and the MID buys lots of natural gas to run our local electrical generation plants. Mike Serpa has been slandered by the MID board members, and the Modesto Bee, but he seems to me to be the only person on the MID Board of Directors that keeps the rate payers interests as the number one priority. The rate payers should support Mike Serpa, and demand that he be given access to any information that he requests. When the other board members come up for election, we need to replace them one by one, and regain sane management of our publicly owned utility. Administrator
