After reading Dave Thomas’s article on the contribution figures for the proponents of the latest tax rip off by the fat cat bureauocraps, (Whoops! Not sure that is spelled correctly, but the connotation is certainly apt) it seems to me that the modesto glee (Darn it, spelling again, I mean bee) may be an under the table contributor.  The bee would obviously profit from the influx of new residents that would ride on the “streets of gold” here in stanislaugh county,  paved, with the expense being borne on the backs of the poor taxpayers.

This inference is drawn on the basis of the article in the modesto glee today, 10-30-06 with the massive headline “Measure K backers hopeful”.  In the “article”, and I hope I do not offend those that write real  articles, written by Michael G. Mooney, (I seem to recall some “Moonies” from an article I read some time ago regarding a radical movement) those of us that oppose this bureaucraptic, self serving attempt to rob the taxpayers without even wearing a mask, are called “a loosely knit band of political gadflies and former officeholders opposed to tax increases…”.

Well, with this article being cleared by the modesto glee’s editor, Mr. Mark “No I won’t testify” Vasche, it is very obvious where the glee stands in this hotly debated political tax payer rip off.  But I thank the Moonie and the Vasche for printing the article.  I take great pride, and I am sure the opponents of K and former officeholders do, in being characterized as a “band of political gadflies”.  In the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, one of the definitions of a “gadfly” is: a person who stimulates or annoys especially by persistent criticism.

I think we should feel privileged to be in the same circle as our founding fathers, which were the “band of political gadflies” of their time.  I seem to recall that there were some “Taxation without representation” problems then as now.  Our country is as great as it is because of “political gadflies” in spite of the underhanded, self-serving, often illegal, taxpayer rip off machinations of the fat cat bureaucraps.  That ilk wants to get fatter and richer and to Hades with who has to pay for it.  So all of you other “political gadflies” that are  with us, hold you head up high.  You are in excellent company. Our forefathers are smiling down on us.
